What To Call Out

In your own words, write a paragraph on what needs to be called on set before what and explain why it is so important.  Refer to the Production Process slides if needed.

The things that must be called before you can call action on a set consist of; AD calling "Lock it up!, "Pictures up!", "Quiet everyone", and then the Sound Mixer calls "Sound Speed!, after that the AD calls "Roll Camera", camera op calls "Camera Speed". After all of that the 2nd AC will assume position with the slate open and then calls, "ROLL, SHOT, TAKE" and then "marker" and claps the slate, the camera op will then refocus for action and call "Set!", after all of that has been called and completed the Director will call "Action!". All of these are important because it gets everyone on the same page and ensures that everyone is doing their job because they must call it out in order to proceed to the next step before action.
