Summarize one of Pudovkin's techniques outlined in this video essay that interests you. How does it contribute to the storytelling in the modern movie clip that the narrator talks about? Why do you find this interesting?
Pudovkin's technique that stood out the most to me were parallelism. Parallelism stood out to me and interested me because it connects two scenes together by its choice of a shot and it connects them visually; they typically use it to time jump from one period to another and I find that a very efficient and cool way of doing that. In the scene from Indiana Jones it is used to jump from one time period to another by showing a young Indiana Jones getting his iconic hat put on him to a present day older Jones with the same hat on to make the time jump efficient and give context to the build up of the story. I find this interesting because I think its very cool that you can use both efficiency and a good shot and editing to carry a story. In some cases you have to sacrifice one or the other but with parallelism you don't have to do that.
